David Edward Wagner

Biography

My name is David Edward Wagner. I write books. I also write music. I was born in Ohio but the East Bay, CA is my long term residence and stomping grounds. For the past while I have been flitting between the CA and Istanbul, now with my wife and son.

I write about the things that astound me. The places where psychology meets philosophy, where science meets spirituality and biology confronts technology. I dig science and history. Philosophy. Comic books. Oceans. Deserts. I love rock and roll in all its various disguises.

Over the years I have been an executive chef, a house painter, a stick juggler, a construction worker, an editor, a kitchen manager/drummer in a traveling cafe/belly dance show, and a chai bottler. I play several instruments and have been known to possess a distinctive German accent from time to time.

I have an MA in philosophy and I would love to talk to you about Foucault and phenomenology anytime.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I remember writing my first stories as early as seven years old but I began to take it seriously, began to see it as a profession, in high school. Now, twenty-something years later, I am just as passionate, if not more so, about creative writing in all of its forms. The power of words to create images, mold characters and breathe life into actions and motivations never ceases to fascinate me.
What do you write about? I mean, what things inspire you to write?
I write about the things that astound me. The places where psychology meets philosophy, where science meets spirituality and biology confronts technology. I dig science and history. Philosophy. Comic books. Oceans. Deserts. I love rock and roll in all its various disguises.
