D. C. Toedt
D. C. Toedt III (the last name is pronounced "Tate") has drafted, reviewed, negotiated, and occasionally litigated, hundreds of contracts in his legal career. A Houston attorney also licensed in California, he holds an “AV” (highest) rating in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer-review survey; he was formerly a partner and member of the management committee at one of the nation's largest intellectual-property boutique law firms, then vice president and general counsel of a public software company (which he had helped the founder to start) until the company's successful "exit."
As an adjunct law professor, Toedt teaches advanced contract drafting to upper-level students. He was the lead author of The Law and Business of Computer Software, first edition, a legal treatise published by Thomson Reuters.
In law school at the University of Texas at Austin, Toedt served on the editorial board of the law review; also at UT Austin, he earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics, with high honors. Between college and law school, he served his ROTC scholarship payback time as a U.S. Navy nuclear engineering officer.
