  • The Dig (Book 1 of the Matt Turner Series) on Sep. 20, 2014

Fantastic book. Author has really thought out the small details like issue Matt would have with everyday life as well a brilliant plot. The way the two stories of both "current" and the owner of the item are cleverly told so that neither jar with the other. Highly recommend

I'm sorry but I could not get on with this writers style and gave up after the third chapter. I took a gamble on this book as it sounded interesting despite not being able to read a sample. As I have no background in literature, I can't explain exactly what keeps on stopping me from getting into the story. Normally I never notice the way a book is written, I just get swept up into the story. With this book everything felt awkward.

This is a lovely story, that I have reread many times.

This is the perfect sequel to Radiance. Grace is a refreshing author to read and manages to write excellent fantasy whilst avoiding the common plot ruts that some fantasy storys end up following. Brilliant. I look forward to reading more of her books.

Didn't realise that this was a christian fantasy book until I'd given up on it a third of the way through and came back to review it. I've never read this genre before and I found some of the ideals in this book too jarring compared to non specific religious fantasy books to enjoy the story. I originally I was going to give this book a 2* but as I've never read this type of genre before I'm giving it an extra * because in hindsight the parts that I didn't like might have been the christian bits. As I'm not Christian and probably not the target audience please disregard this review if Christian fantasy is your preferred genre.
