David Garland

Welcome to my personal Smashwords page!
I have been a teacher for over 30 years now and have always wanted to write a book. I have written many short stories but always kept them to myself. Now, it's my time to share.
Born and raised in Michigan, I love to travel the US and other countries.
My wife of 30-plus years is a retired teacher and is my greatest supporter of my writing (and perhaps my strongest critic-in a good way).
I am a father of one boy who has grown into a fine young man. His own career is doing well. He is married to a fabulous young lady. The two of them have also blessed us with a wonderful grandson.
Besides walking my dog, Jake, I am a soccer fan, diehard Detroit Lions fan and foodie!
I hope you enjoy my books. Keep checking back for more and feel free to join my Facebook page to let me know what you think!

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I began writing for my own personal enjoyment when I was around 10 years old. I would take songs that I liked, or songs with interesting lyrics and try to make stories about them.
What's the story behind your latest book?
Middle School Menace was actually inspired by a couple of students I had in middle school. One girl truly did have eyes that sparkled every time she was excited about something. She would even sparkle when she'd say good morning. The boy in the story was probably the most unorganized student I have ever seen when it came to his locker. This is different from Ethan in my story who was very organized. But, the boy in school had them most disorganized locker. It was constantly popping open...thus the exploding locker haunted by Nathaniel.
