Doreen J. Oberg

Biography

Doreen June Oberg was born in Dallas, OR and raised in in Walla Walla, WA. After finishing a Masters Degree in Piano Pedagogy Doreen taught piano for ten years until re-entering graduate school again in 1995, this time to complete a Masters Degree in Education/ Counseling. During her first job as a high school counselor in 2001 she met her husband to be and was introduced to motorcycles. Doreen describes her home now as a strange mix of motorcycle and music themes with a piano and metronome set alongside motorcycle photos and cycle gear. After adopting a cat from her husband’s hospice agency, cat hair is now added to the general décor of every room.

Writing piano music and songs has always been a passion of Doreen’s. The science fiction genre (her favorite) also allows a free range of ideas so a creative seed, the colonization of another planet, eventually completed her evolution from notes to words. While contemplating Skyland, Doreen submitted an article to a motorcycle magazine which was featured in September, 2017. “From the Passenger’s Seat” recounts her enjoyment of continuing to ride two-up with her husband on vacations that span from Arizona to Sturgis, SD each year.
