Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a very small farming community in northern Ohio. Everyone knew each other and took care of those in need. For our medical needs, we called for "Doc Lewis", the country doctor who made his own remedies and made house calls. That was a time when people depended on common sense and wisdom passed down from generation to generation. Prescription medications were unheard of back then, vaccinations were minimal, if at all, and our garden and livestock carried us throughout the years with nutritious, organic food. Life was simple. The only access our family had to electronics was watching television on Sunday night. But it was enough because, as a child, it was more important to be playing outdoors or simply reading a book.

Yes, how and where I grew up certainly influenced my writing because I believe the simple life is what most people truly desire. The 8 Laws of Health that I refer to in this book are the natural path to optimal health!
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I have a busy practice in Lexington, Kentucky where I see patients in the office two weeks of the month. The remainder of my time is spent on phone consultations with patients who cannot come to the office because of distance, health or time restraints.

Of course, my family is my first priority - my dear husband, three children and seven grandchildren take up all my spare time.
