Robert Davis


Robert is currently an Associate Professor and Consultant. His focus is interactive markets (web, mobile. social media, and games) and branding. Published research on marketing in Marketing Science, the Journal of Information Technology, the Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Service Research, Communications of the ACM, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, Internet Research, Young Consumers, Computers in Entertainment, Journal of Consumer and Retail Services, Contemporary Management Research, Entertainment Computing, International Journal of Mobile Marketing, International Journal of Mobile Communications.
Robert is on the editorial board of Internet Research and Journal of Marketing Communications. Robert has worked for IBM. Positions have been held at the University of Auckland Business School, Unitec and Manukau Institute of Technology. Robert holds a PhD from the University of Auckland in Marketing (Online Retailing).
Robert works closely with industry including; Tony Falkenstein/Just Water, Fisher and Paykel Healthcare, Air New Zealand, TradeMe, Rakon, The Human Interface Initiative, Turners and Growers, Altezano and Super Liquor. Robert lives in New Zealand with his daughter and son.

When did you first start writing?
I started writing in 1997 when I started my PhD in Marketing about online marketing relationships and retail branding.
What's the story behind your latest book?
There are a lot of books about social media. This book is inspired by the community. Put the control of the brand back into the community. Stop the marketers shouting the brand at customers in social media. The book is designed to help people think about their revolution.
