For most of my working life I have been a dog groomer, alongside periods spent working as a musician (I play drums and saxophone). I've taught both instruments on the odd occasion. I've also had numerous jobs including working for a well-known slimming club and various office jobs.
All my life, though, I've wanted to write and, for me, that time is now. My two sons are more or less grown up, so it's just me and the dog, (and the other half, and all my customers' dogs!) I guard my spare time jealously and write when I really should be doing other things. On balance, I am serious about writing so maybe I shouldn't be doing other things.
I learned to read when I was two or three and have not had a book out of my hand since. Writing my own stories seemed a natural progression and I have finally realised what I wanted to do when I left school all those years ago. If I had my time over, I would try and get a job in a publishing house or with a literary agent but, hey, hindsight's a wonderful thing.
