Dwayne Riner
Biography
Dwayne Riner created Herman Somnambula over twelve years ago to help teach kids important truths about God. The character came straight out of Dwayne's own personality. Like Herman, Dwayne is an admitted geek who loves Science Fiction (Star Trek and Star Wars). Dwayne also shares his clumsiness with Herman, and loves learning about history. Perhaps the only difference between the two is that Herman Somnambula loves to dance. Dwayne is a terrible dancer. Tired of boring ways of teaching kids, Dwayne developed the Herman character so that he could inject fun into his learning. He is passionate about helping kids become everything God created them to be and loves to craft stories that show kids they can be amazing!
Dwayne was born and raised in the state of Georgia, the son of a pastor. Dwayne began leading a children's church as a high school student and has been in full-time Children's Ministry ever since. Dwayne has coordinated kid's camps, spoken at conferences, and written curriculum for children. Dwayne has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries from Emmanuel College, and a Master of Arts degree in Religion from Liberty University.
Dwayne currently serves as the Creative Director for The Ark Church and writes curriculum for the children's ministry at the church. He has been married to his high school sweetheart for over thirteen years and they have two children: Jennifer and Nathan. Dwayne loves crafting stories for kids and creating characters that inspire kids to become everything God created them to be. Dwayne and his family now reside in the great state of Texas.
