Frank Gauthier
Biography
Frank Gauthier is the pen name of a real writer. Frank was born in Italy. He left for Montreal, Canada, on his own, when he was 19. There he frequented the Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal graduating in engineering (geology) in 1973. He went on to get a Master in geochemistry in 1974. He worked for a few years in Northern Quebec, then left to teach Engineering at the Ecole Polytechnique of Thies, Senegal for CIDA, the Canadian International Development Agency. Back in Montreal he got an MBA from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (International Marketing), in 1980. He then worked for a number of Engineering firms in Georgia and California, as well as in Africa, South East Asia, South America and Europe. He lives now in Piedmont whit his companion.
Frank has already published two books: The first one, “ A Diamond Worth Killing For” was published in Italian by the "Gruppo Edicom”. The second book, “Gold Kills Too” was published in e-format in 2009.
He is now writing a guide book on the “Roero” wine district (where he lives), and the gastronomy of the area. The book is expected to be published in 2009. Hopefully he is not getting in any real trouble writing a cook book !!!
Frank reads at least a book per week. The books he enjoys the most are those written by Robert Ludlum, John Grisham, Ken Follet, Michael Crichton, Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Le Carré, Wilbur Smith (from whom he was inspired in writing the first two thrillers), Frederick Forsyth, Bill Bryson (who inspitred the wrting of thethe Guide Book on Roero).
Frank's a para glider, and a windsurfer.
Frank has double nationality: he’s like to have a third. He’s working on it. He also has at least two passports, one Italian and one Canadian, unfortunately under his real name. Also four driver licenses, two of which international, under different names.
He is looking for two more passports, one Nigerian (this is where he will go next) and one Brazilian, under two different names. Frank’s open to suggestions. Given his uncanny ability to get in real trouble, two more passports is the minimum he needs to hide and survive.
