A solid story with compelling characters and excellent pacing. It's not as mature in style as Hogarth's more current work, and I also don't feel the stories hang together independently, but would require stronger editing to make a more seamless single novella. Still, the delicious descriptions and gritty detail hold it all together and keep me turning the pages. I wanted to know what happened next at every point, and there is an excellent sense of solid world-building without any interruption in the flow.
