Emily Reuter
Emily is an American freelance writer, novelist and criminologist who brings liveliness and fun to every page of her writing. She maintains her passion for writing by pushing toward achieving style and flair in all her pieces.
Emily pursued an academic career in English Literature at the University of Oregon to study the classics. During that period, she both started and managed a home-based business for a small side income as a technical writer preparing resume and dissertation packages for students - what later would be known as the beginning of her technical writing career. To supplement her income while building her writing career, going to school, and raising children alone as a single parent, she started, managed and ran a home-based daycare center for babies with great success.
While raising two sons alone, Emily managed to earn two Bachelor’s degrees, one in English Literature from the University of Oregon, and one in Criminology & Criminal Justice from Portland State University. Emily has completed her Master’s in Adult Education, along with a second Master's in English to be completed in June 2011. She also has a graduate certification in Professional Writing.
Her specialties include nonfiction writing in the areas of self-help / self-improvement on women’s issues, writing instruction and technique, as well as fiction novel writing in the crime suspense genre.
Emily’s goals include continuing to build a freelance writing career, finish four novels from the Vega family saga series, and then publish the manuscripts as outlined on her website. She intends to teach fiction writing workshops to private groups, as well as teach English and writing classes online to adult education students. If writing and online teaching allows, she hopes to teach community college English or Criminology classes on a smaller scale.
She currently resides in the Pacific Northwest with her two sons.
