Erin Cawood

I write contemporary romance/women's fiction.

What I write sometimes is a little darker and a bit edgier. My characters, they put themselves in these situations, and sometimes these are places where even I don't want to go. Either way, they'll bring you tears and tantrums, joy and laughter, just don't expect the standard happy ever after. For this is their story. They only ask that I tell it.

So Syd's finally accepted her magical heritage and she's got the kind of friends and life she'd like to keep. She's juggling her magic practice sessions with homework, her social life with covern rituals, her heart is torn between the football star and the bad boy, and she's still fighting with her mum. You've done it again Patti! I was enthrawled cover to cover! I love that Syd's a typical teen tortured by insecurities. She's just trying to be a normal kid but her magical life just wont let her, but she's accepting of it and knows how to react. I love the split in the story line, Syd's not only dealing with her coven's magical issues, she's learning how to deal with one's of her own. Thanks for the great post uni read Patti, Looking forward to Book 3 - Demon Child :-)

Oh My God! I was so not expecting this! So Syd's growing up and her demon half is growing an independant streak. She's making peace with the idea she'll never have her life exactly the way she wants it, she finally gets the guy and then bang! For anyone who has read Family Magic and Witch Hunt, Demon Child is a must! For those who haven't go read them NOW and come back Demon Child is not a book to be missed. I gave both book 1 & 2 5/5 well Demon Child gets 10! I was up 'til 4am this morning reading it despite having to get up at 7am. Un-put-downable! Can't wait for The Wild!

Well what can I say without spoiling it except BUY IT! BUY IT NOW! Yet again I was lost from cover to cover and finished reading at 4:30am. Then tension's right there from chapter 1, Syd's going to bring more trouble to the coven's door. Everything that seemed significant in the past but then forgotten about as Syd's journey through Family Magic, Witch Hunt and Demon Child progressed is now significant. All mixed in with Syd finally getting exactly what she wants; to be normal, realising this isn't what 'normal' feels like and Syd's power hungery search to feel normal again while her parents try to give her what she's always wanted. Of course, it wouldn't be Syd's life if the Hayle Coven wasn't being threatened with ultimate destruction and this time Syd's powerless to save the day... or is she? Loved it! and looking forward to meeting Auburdeen Hayle in Smoke & Magic
