IM DeRose is an adventurer who majored in Mathematics at Western Maryland College (presently McDaniel College) in the quaint little town of Westminster, MD and graduate school at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
IM has tried his hand at many different jobs before ultimately embarking on a career in Civil Engineering. Somewhere along the way, it seemed like a good idea to put his cumulative knowledge and experience to work as a businessman in the field of Building Construction and Development.
This new venture took IM into 29 different countries on three continents and ultimately to the little town of Truth Or Consequences, NM where he met Fr Ludo.
IM invites you to join him in his new adventure of writing about the mystical people and places he met along The Trek and ultimately what this stuff might mean – if anything.
When did you first start writing?
Walking to school with some friends in the first grade, we decided to "investigate" the inner contents of an "abandoned house" (which in our neighborhood meant recently evicted). Some of the other boys found fishing rods a hardball glove and various other kid treasures. I was mesmerized by a huge book in old fashioned oxblood bindings. It turned out to be the collected works of William Shakespeare. I read and treasured that book for many years until I lost it in a house fire. I probably did not understand a lot of what I read, but from that moment on I was captivated by those magical words and aspired to the alchemy contained therein.
The story of a born adventurer from the Netherlands and his lifelong quest to become a missionary to China. With unyielding determination, Fr Ludo pursued his dream through the battlefields of Europe during WWII and straight into the face of China's "Cultural Revolution" where is was not a good place to be a Westerner - especially a Catholic priest.
