Smashwords Interview

What are your five favorite books, and why?
Oh. That's hard. I think Black Beauty has to be one. I think I read it at least ten times when I was a kid. I love Roald Dahl too and Harry Potter. On the adult list, keeping it fairly contemporary, I'd have to say The Funny Thing about Norman Forman, Elefant, Shuggie Bain, The Dry, Boy Swallows Universe. But I read so many great books the list of favourites is a very long one.
How do you approach cover design?
For me the cover has to say something meaningful about what's in the book. It should tell the reader something about what to expect when they read. It should attract attention and hopefully be compelling enough to entice a prospective reader to pick it up or find out more.
