  • The Fate Of The Muse on Dec. 27, 2014

Marina's Tales series keeps getting better with each book I read. I was hooked from the first book and the author just continues to reel me in for more. In this installment it's summer in Aptos. Marina and her friends have graduated from high school. Shayla is heading to Paris to start her modeling career, Meagan is doing really well with her singing and Cruz is living in San Francisco. After all that Marina has been through in the previous books I though ok things have finally calmed down for her. Well things have only seemed to have just begun. Marina travels to Paris with Evie to meet with the mermaid council. It's here that Marina meets a new character that tells her about someone that she needs to stay away from. Things go from bad to worse after this. Marina and Ethan's relationship is tested once again, but this time it's Marina rethinking things. A new guy comes into Cruz's life. I personally thought it happened really fast but I like them together. I cannot leave out the mermaids. I love how wherever Marina is surfing she encounters new mermaids who are always there to help her out of something. I liked the new little mermaid Nixie, and how she fits into the story. This book continues to add more romance, suspense, danger all with previous and new characters. I'm looking forward to reading book four in this series. If you have not started reading this series I recommend that you do. It's so good! This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
  • The Moon And The Tide on Dec. 27, 2014

The Moon And The Tide was even better than the first book if that is possible. I really liked the first book but the author brought so much more to this one. We get to enjoy the returning characters along with some new interesting ones. While on vacation with her dad, another one of Marina's previous visions happens. A terrible accident that will cause her to revel herself as a mermaid. This in turn sets off a series of events that will change everything that Marina has ever known. Her relationship with Ethan has some bumps in the road. This causes her to want to be in the water any chance she can get. Marina and Lorelei find themselves in some dangerous situations. Some major secrets are revealed and there is a lot more action, adventure and emotions. Marina finds out that she has some powers of persuasion that always doesn't turn out like she hopes. I really liked how the characters really developed more into their own. Cruz just cracks me up with all his designer attitude. Megan has become much more sure of herself which plays out in her music. Shayla, I was surprised by how much she has changed. She went from bullying Marina to becoming such a good friend. I can't leave out Evie, she is like that aunt that I would love to have along with her funny bodyguard Boris. There are so many ups and downs with Marina's emotions and relationships. There is a lot going on in this sequel but I don't want to really give away any spoilers. This is a must read though. I can't wait to read the next one and see what exciting adventures are in store for Marina, her family and friends. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. • The Turning Tides on Jan. 28, 2015

The Turning Tides is the final book in this series. It has been quite a journey for Marina, her family and friends. If another book would be written in the future I would love to read it. It would be great to see the characters in the future. But for now I am happy to have read such a great series. Marina continues to be one strong young lady who just seems to find trouble no matter where she is. Her relationship with Ethan is tested once again but this time I wasn't sure if it would survive. The author brings in some new characters into the story that shake things up. The story mainly focuses on Marina but we do get a few updates from some of my other favorites throughout. There is a lot more suspense and action in this book than there was in the previous ones. It seemed more intense and I found myself not wanting to put it down. With the new characters comes some surprising news. Marina must figure out who she can really trust because her life and the lives of the mermaids depends on it. When I finished reading, I was happy with how the series ended. I am going to miss reading about the characters that I have come to enjoy. Overall a great series that I would recommend. I will be on the lookout for more stories from this author. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
  • The Mackenzie Legacy on July 17, 2015

The Mackenzie Legacy is the sequel to The Athena Effect and another five star book in my opinion. I flew through this story, I could not put it down. I liked how the story was told not just about Caledonia and Calvin but also Layla and Michael. Although Caledonia and Calvin are my favorites. It picks up where The Athena Effect left off. Caledonia and Calvin are on the run since her escape from the mad scientist Professor Reed. With little money and danger lurking everywhere they sleep in a tent or cheap motels and move from town to town every couple days. When Calvin discovers a way to make money using Caledonia's powers they end up in Las Vegas. It's here that Caledonia meets a woman who points her in a whole new direction about her powers. It's turns out that her power of persuasion is not from Professor Reed's experiments but is actually genetic. When Caledonia turns 18 her and Calvin head to her little cabin in the woods. When she goes to claims her cabin and land she discovers that she has inherited so much more. She also finds out who her relatives are and so much more about her family history. Layla and Micheal are now living in Los Angeles with Max. Micheal is Max's right hand man with the finances. In return Max is proving Micheal with a life of luxury. Layla on the other hand has to use her powers of persuasion on men so Max can blackmail them later for money. There are so many thrilling, twists and turns, edge of your seat moments that I could go on and on. This was one exciting story to read. I can't wait to see what happens next! • The Athena Effect on July 17, 2015

I was excited when I was given the opportunity to start reading this series. I have read other books by this author that I have enjoyed. I honestly could not get enough of this book. It is that good. I was wondering if I would get confused with both of the main characters being named Cal but it doesn't affect it at all. Caledonia is different from most people. She has two different color eyes and can see, feel and manipulate people's feelings. She has lived in a remote cabin with her parents all of her life. They have no electricity or modern technology. She has never been around others or experienced simple everyday things that come natural to most people. Calvin is the bad boy of the story. On the surface he is the typical bad boy, totally hot and has any girl he wants. He loves to party with his biker brother Jarrod, his girlfriend Crystal and their friends. But deep down there is so much more to him. When tragedy strikes Caledonia's parents she is forced to go live with her aunt Angie, whom she has never met, and her boyfriend Phil. One night while Caledonia is outside walking around to get away from Phil when she comes across Calvin in a bit of a mess with some guys looking for trouble. She saves him from the guys and their story begins. I really liked Caledonia, Calvin, Jarrod and Crystal. I did not like Angie or Phil at all and when you read the story you will know why. I loved getting to know Caledonia and Calvin and their stories as they got to know each other. They like each other from the start but it takes them awhile to get together which I thought was good. It wasn't they meet and instantly they are a couple. The happiness does not get to last long though, there is a mad man former professor that will do anything to get Caledonia and her powers. Who can they trust and what will they risk to stay together? I just have to say it again, I loved this story and I am really excited to continue with this series. • Between The Land And The Sea on July 17, 2015

Between the Land and the Sea is a fun, enjoyable story that I would read again. Marina has lived her entire life traveling the world with her father. She lives in San Francisco and lives a life of luxury thanks to her neighbor "Aunt Evie". The summer before her senior year of high school Marina's father sends her to live in Aptos, a small town along the ocean. He wants her to attend public school and be around people her own age. She immediately reconnects with her cousin Cruz and her aunt Abby. Marina quickly adapts to life at the beach and becomes instant friends with Cruz's friend Megan. After an near drowning Marina meets Ethan. Things seem to going good for Marina until she starts to feel drawn the ocean and the mermaid that she meets. It's then that strange things start happening to her and the people that she cares about most. There is also her family secret about her mother that I found interesting. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. I liked how Marina and Ethan's relationship took some time to develop. I loved Cruz and Megan, they are too funny. I did at times feel that the story got lost on the side things. There was a lot of talk about fashion, what designers Marina's clothing and accessories were. Overall though a great story. I am looking forward to finding out what is next for Marina. This e-book was provided to me by the author for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
  • The Caledonian Inheritance on July 29, 2015

First off I have to say that this series just keeps getting better with each installment. The Caledonian Inheritance focuses mainly on Layla. We get some interaction with the others but the story is centered around Layla and what is going on with her. It was nice to learn more about her. All four, Caledonia, Calvin, Michael and Layla are living in a house together while they make plans to build a big house on their property where their parents lived. In the previous books I had mixed feelings about Layla. I didn't like the way that she manipulated people all the time. But at the same time I felt bad for her with her upbringing and all. In this book though she has really started to come into her own. She is living life and has a great new boyfriend, Ramon. I am happy with this because when the last book ended I was hoping that they would end up together. He is a great guy and a police officer in the town where Layla now lives. I found myself laughing at times when they are out somewhere. Things that are so common to Ramon like going to a fast food drive-thru are all new to Layla. Things are going great for Layla until she decides that she wants to see if she can find out who her father is. The one person that she thinks would know is Professor Reed. All he seems to do is cause more problems for Layla and her family and will do whatever it takes to finance his crazy projects. When he sets up a meeting with Layla this is where things go from bad to worse. Will Layla ever be able to get away from the Professor? What will happen when Ramon finds out about her powers? There is so much more great things that happen but I'm not going to give away any more. This is a great series that I highly recommend reading. I can't wait to start reading the final installment, The Redcastle Redemption. This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
  • The Redcastle Redemption on Aug. 07, 2015

WOW, what a series this was! Each book got better and better. I am sad that this is the end of such a wonderful series. I am going to miss reading about these characters everyday. This is truly a series that I highly recommend reading! Just when everyone thinks that they can finally settle down and live their lives everything is turned upside down again. Between the mob, the professor and the senator all after them which way do they turn? I could just start gushing about everything that happened in this final installment but I am not going to spoil it for anyone. I will tell you though that it is action and suspense packed from beginning to end. My heart was racing during so many scenes. I felt like I was on a rollarcoaster ride. The suspense was like that. You're heart is racing waiting for it to get to the top and then go over the other side at full speed. There are so many twists and turns I didn't know what to expect to happen next. The romance is there, but it's not overdone which I liked. This book and really all of the books in this series are very well written. I loved how each character got their time in the "spotlight" in this story. We got to get to know each character and their personal story. I have to say that Caledonia and Calvin are still my favorites. But I have come to really like Layla, Ramon, Michael and Mina. I thought the author did a great job with how each one of them came together to help get the others out of some really dangerous situations. I am happy that the mob, the professor and the senator got what they deserved. All the loose ends were tied up nicely. The ending was not rushed and we got to see into the future of each character. I loved how everything turned out and what Caledonia and Calvin were doing with their money. All around a happy ending for everyone. It was so neat to see and remember how each one of them started out in the first books and how they have transformed into these amazing people by the end. I just wish that there were more books because I am going to miss everyone. I had such a great time enjoying reading this series. I guess I will have to re-read it again sometime in the future. That's what you do with your favorites right? This e-book was provided to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.
