F.B Hayduk is a novelist and short story author. Her current work appears or is forthcoming in the scifi and horror venues via various online marketplaces.
When she's not traveling the universe in her novel, she is busy working in her flower garden trying to keep them from being eaten by her shadow-monster-puppy, Hanna.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
Having been born and raised in Hawaii, storytelling has always been a part of my life. My grandmother would tell me legends and stories of her childhood. On Halloween, my grandfather would gather us kids up and we had to tell the most spookiest story we could make up! Then my grandfather would judge who the winner was. I remember many sleepless nights after that! So when I married and had children, I told them the same stories and legends from my grandmother and although our storytelling games have changed, we still keep that custom alive.
What's the story behind your latest book?
I first came up with the concept in 1985. I started writing these chronicles for my own enjoyment actually. One day when I came home completely frustrated from a particularly hard day at work I sat at the keyboard of my old IBM 5150 and wrote my day out, but with my character - Karin - at the helm. Needless to say, she handled the day quite different that I did!
Follow the journeys of Karin Tovannan, aka SlicerDragon throughout the galaxies as she reveals the life and duties of a Supreme Royal Guardian. With each novel you delve a little deeper into her world. A world filled with laughter, rage and sometimes tears.
Karin had finally gotten a day off and all she wanted was to spend a relaxing day with a hot cup of coffee.
After finding the coffee maker broken, her day spirals into a series of events that leads her on a journey to find that elusive cup of hot coffee.
