Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
yes, I remember quite vividly actually. I was just a curious little boy getting in trouble with my friends in our English class. my teacher asked everyone to write a made up story and pin it to a drawing next to it. I was very interested because I could write anything I wanted and there were no rules! well I wrote my story about a monster (I watched too many movies) that would eat kids. It was actually a bit long so I had to cut it short. since then I wished every assignment was to write a story, haha.
What is your writing process?
well, firstly I need some solace. I need to be able to hear myself think and maybe listen to a little prog rock in the process. I come up with a core idea randomly during the day and save it on my phone. when I get time I always brainstorm and write down little notes that I find intriguing. i'll use lyrics from songs or quotes from artists to get some kind of visual idea that corresponds to my story and the rest just seems to flow into nice (sometimes sloppy) words. I'm always thinking though, so my brain is always on!
"The Greta Situation" is a compelling story that follows a man into an existential crisis after he witnesses a superhuman being murder his wife. He is jolted into a continuous battle between logic and insanity as he tries to unveil his wife's murderer.
"The Aircraft Man" is a peculiar tale of two friends that venture out into the desert of New Mexico on a quest to unveil the mysterious UFO that is believed to be conducted by the government. Through an unlikely friendship, the duo becomes real adventurers seeking truths.
The Spiral is an odd tale of destiny and mythology and what we believe as human beings. When a little boy wishes upon a star, he believes that a Hindu God passed through the galaxy and caused a time ripple. Through tragic memories and heartwarming moments, he must understand that life is a three dimensional experience and anything can happen.
Nima the Enigma is a very emotional and haunting tale of the entity of love. When Nima discovers his wife has done something terrible, he ploys to save her spirit from damnation using the mystical abilities he was given. In an adventurous yet saddening journey through the imagination of Alex R. Encomienda, Nima the Enigma is one story that must be read.
