Garry Farrington

Garry entered the military as a draftee out of college in 1966. He went to Officer’s Candidate School at Fort Knox Kentucky, and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in October of 1967. After one year at Fort Ord, California, he arrived in Vietnam in October of 1968. Proudly serving with the 1st Air Cavalry Division as a rifle platoon leader, he made the transition from Armor to Infantry. Returning home in 1969, he returned to San Jose State University to complete his degree in Communications.

Garry has spent most of his working life in the hospitality industry, and recently retired after years as a hotel manager in Hawaii. Garry and his wife, Vikki, take pleasure in the warmth of the sun, whether at a beach or on a golf course.

Future projects include a look at the lives of Garry’s OCS classmates, during and after their time in the military.
