Julie Embleton

Julie Embleton was born and raised in Ireland in a suburb at the foot of the Dublin Mountains. Despite being determined to become a Graphic Designer she never forgot the encouragement given by a teacher that had prompted her to begin writing during her early teens. Julie graduated from college with a degree in Graphic Design and then promptly left Ireland to find her fortune. Years later she came to realise that the fortune she sought was an urban legend, so returned home to Ireland where the weirdness of life had thrown her head first into the hotel industry. While continuing to experience the eye-opening education provided by hotel life she never stopped writing, and after doing so in secret for many, many years finally decided to brave a step into the literary world.
She now lives by the sea with her amazing daughter and ridiculously cute cat and is happily buried in the creation of her next book.

Smashwords Interview

Who are your favorite authors?
I have a strange mix of favorite authors! I love Emily Bronte and George Eliot. Charles Dickens' works draw me back again and again . . . I've lost count of how many times I've read Great Expectations. Of a more recent era I follow Margaret Atwood, JK Rowling, and many of the authors that write for the young adult genre such as Sarah Rees Brennan and Lauren Kate. Saying that, I've enjoyed so many fantastic reads over the years that there wouldn't be enough space for me to list them all. Any author that holds my attention and leaves me thinking about their characters long after I've closed the book is on my favorite list - even if I can't remember their names right now!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I have a daughter - that's reason enough to inspire me out of bed each day! I do like to plan out the day in my head before I get up, though. Once I know what I'm at it tends to motivate me to get vertical. The only time I bury myself back under the duvet is if I've been writing into the wee small hours and have frazzled my brain; then I'm definitely a lot slower about flinging back the blankets . . .
