Giulia Jeary Knap

Biography

Having earned a degree in Foreign Languages from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy of Salerno University (Italy) in 1985, Giulia worked for 13 years as an executive secretary for multinational companies. In 1999, in order to devote more time to her family, she became a freelance translator and interpreter. Thanks to her mixed heritageItalian, British and Czechshe soon found out that one of her life passions was interpersonal communication. The emphasis of her work has always been on helping people understand one another.

As a child, she discovered she had an innate desire to research and experience the spiritual side of life and a keen interest in what happens after death. That is why she has spent the last 25 years actively researching the Afterlife and the circumstances that enable the physically living to contact discarnate spirits.

Since 1994, Giulia has had the opportunity of working as an interpreter at mediumship training events in the UK and in Italy, during which she attended hundreds of private sittings, as well as dozens of public demonstrations of mediumship and many lectures and workshops on the subject. She started reading anything she could lay her hands on, on the topic, and attended courses held by certified mediums to learn more about the mechanics and philosophy of mediumship. She also teamed up with other Afterlife researchers to experiment with after-death communication and how it works.

During these public events, Giulia met several hundred bereaved individuals and developed a specific interest in grief and bereavement support. She has since devoted a substantial part of her free time to comforting the bereaved, irrespective of their cultural or religious backgrounds.

Her work as an interpreter has played an important part in her interest in mediumship. Despite what she regards as her ‘many failures to communicate efficiently in everyday life’, she feels her key mission is to help people to communicate with each other, in this life and beyond.

In her free time, Giulia also enjoys painting as a means of expanding her awareness and linking with the spirit world.

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
My key motivation is sharing with readers the results of my 25-year research about the Afterlife and after-death communication and the understanding that we can all connect with our loved ones in Spirit if we understand how spirit contact works. Even though I have been blessed with the rare opportunity to experience over one thousand so-called out-of-body experiences, I have learnt that astral travel is not at all essential: it is simply a tool for me to understand and teach how everyone can connect with their dear departed in a variety of ways. In my first book I focus on three basic techniques: connection while awake, while falling asleep and while asleep. In other words, what we call the astral plane could be described as a 'place' where we can meet with our loved ones, and this 'place' can be accessed in many ways, which are within everyone's grasp. I have been invited many times by spirit communicators to use my understanding to teach other people the things I have learnt. Ever since 2006, I started receiving messages saying clearly that this is my responsibility, and more recently I have been told that our dear departed feel really upset when their loved ones here, on the physical plane, think of them with sorrow, pity or pain. I have been asked to 'do something about it' and reverse this situation, and this is what I am trying to do.
What do you read for pleasure?
As a wife and mum who also works part-time, besides writing and blogging, I enjoy reading short and practical self-help books. Sometimes I read several at the same time. The choice depends on the tasks I am learning about. Right now I am reading non-fiction books about time management, how to use Evernote, how to create YouTube videos myself and how to interview Afterlife-research partners using affordable podcast equipment. The exciting thing about my choice of books is that I tend to stumble into my favourite authors and books quite easily during my social networking sessions, as these are aimed at socialising with like-minded readers and writers.
