Heather Anne knew she wanted to be an author from the time she was a small child. After seeing an episode of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood that gave a behind the scenes look at how books are made, she proudly proclaimed she wanted to be a “book maker” and write her own books.
As she grew older she began writing poetry and short stories as a hobby occasionally publishing them online for her friends and family to read. After high school she entered college to earn a degree in Library Science. It wasn’t until 2011 when she first participated in the 30 day; 50,000 word NaNoWriMo program that she realized the career she truly wanted to pursue was that of an author.
Since then she has been working on her first book, a poetry compilation and has participated in NaNoWriMo and Camp NaNoWriMo; winning for the first time in 2012.
Currently she is writing her first novel and nervously awaiting the release of her poetry compilation. In her spare time, she enjoys role-playing games, reading and playing video games with her husband.
She lives in Indiana with her husband, Adam and their Yellow Labrador, Nova.
Figments of Self: A Journey Through Depression is a collection of twenty-two poems written over the course of two years; chronicling the ups and downs of a long struggle with depression and the author’s own fears of publishing her own work. Sorrow, regret, love, hope, fear and fond memories are explored in poetic form as the author puts pen to paper in a quest to put emotions into words.
