Eight Seconds Less could properly be called flash fiction, even though it is a few words over a thousand. Not a word is wasted, however, as Mr. Guest goes about his business methodically, taking the reader to a blood stained battlefield in World War II and lays bare the grim reality of combat. This is not a story for the faint of heart or for those who believe that wars are fought by the rules of the Marquis of Queensbury.
