Gabriel A. Pino

Biography

Gabriel A. Pino was born and raised in New Jersey. After graduating from high school he moved to Georgia in 2008 where he has lived ever since. He received his B.A. in Modern Languages and Culture with a concentration in Spanish in 2011 and his M.S. in International Policy Management in 2013.

Gabriel doesn’t remember the moment it clicked for him that he wanted to be a writer. What he always knew however was that he loved to tell a story. Whether it was drawing one out when he was six because he didn’t know how to spell, acting in a school play, standing around his group of friends recounting the events of something that happened over the weekend, or as he would find out in his late teens, putting it all down on paper.

Pino is a lover of traveling and learning about different cultures and walks of life. He says it’s where he gets some of his biggest inspirations for what he writes and some of the biggest inspirations for the Totem Saga.

It was a story that came to him in a daydream back in 2011 of a young man holding a strange sword facing down an eight-legged ghoul on a rainy street. From that point on the world the character belonged to and the people in it became a passion project that four years later would result in Totem: Rise of the White Viper, the first of six installments.

Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
Ha! A mess. I have my computer of course, infinite amounts of pens, my journal, random papers where I have scribbled down ideas, and of course it wouldn't be complete without some bills.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Madison, New Jersey. I actually don't think it influenced my fiction writing all that much. Now that I think about it, I find myself more influenced by my college years in the south than the north.
