I just finished Spirit Song and I have to say that Sherry Janes is one hell of a story teller, and a very good writer!! After many years of technical writing and editing, I often cringe---particularly with first-time authors---at grammatical errors and departures from basic writing rules, but Ms. Janes told a great story, told it excitingly, and told it coherently. Even though Spirit Song is unlike the books I usually choose in my "maturing" years, I was compelled by the smoothness of the narrative, amused by its lightness, and delighted with the verbal visuals. She paints on the jungle canvas with descriptive skill extraordinaire. I was also impressed with the amount of homework the author obviously accomplished for accuracy to the culture, environment, and spiritual framework. I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment.
