I was moved to read this book about growing up in the church and overcoming the horrid way his own father, a pastor, was treated by the people he selflessly served. Rob's took me through his story of perseverance in well-paced, easy to read chapters. In the middle of the narrative, he interrupts his own tale with a heart-wrenching event told as it unfolded which left me both feeling his pain and gaining a new level of respect for him as a leader. He finishes the book off with a recipe for overcoming the pain we all seem to bear from the tragedies in our own childhoods. I highly recommend this book whether you relate to Rob as a Pastor's Kid or just as someone who has to navigate through the dysfunction of his past to what he terms the "destiny" of his present. A quick read and well worth the price!
