G.R. Senn

Biography

Author is a serious coffee drinker and an insomniac by birth. He loves sharks, tigers, cats and dogs as well as cappuccino on a beautiful Saturday morning.

He adores Helsinki and a proud resident. Why? It has certain qualities: Autumn and Winter bear a romantic gloom that kind of slows you down, in a nice way mind you; then comes Spring and Summer with that energy boom that makes you feel like you’re riding a wave for two months; or two weeks, depending on your luck that year.

Writing is not his only poison. He is also a singer/songwriter, jazz theory enthusiast, flash art drawer, humble ‘photo taker’, comic strip creator, humor dissector.

His writing is guided by a VU meter that has Darkness on one side and Humor on the other. Most of the time, the pin is in the middle. But there are no guarantees, of course, that it wouldn’t move slightly to the left or to the right according to the mood that the author is in.

His favorite painter is Edward Hopper.

He read a lot of classic books as a child. Jules Verne and Jack London were his favorite writers. Then he discovered comics. He was a child with John Steinbeck’s “Grapes of Wrath” in one hand “Spider-man vs. Dr. Octopus” in the other. He also loved story based comics like “Ken Parker” and “Tintin”.

He grew up watching classic noir; Bogart; “Dark Passage”, “Maltese Falcon”, “To Have and Have Not”.

In the eighties he discovered Stephen King, “Carrie” scared the hell out of him before he even knew what it was about, Brian De Palma, Stanley Kubrick, John Cassavettes as well as Woody Allen and Mel Brooks.

The result?

Well, it’s in the pudding.
