George Farrell

Biography

George Farrell is the Chief Executive Officer of American Security Trust, LLC, an International Business Consulting Company and a Member of the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee. He is also a published author and a powerful motivational speaker.

georgeStarting as an intern for United States Senator Claiborne Pell (D) RI, The young Mr. Farrell went on to learn the intricacies of Capital Hill and to influence legislation later in life. His governmental experience encompasses serving as Associate Director of the Washington D.C. Housing Finance
Agency and as a United States Department of Housing and Urban Development Consultant for Empower Baltimore. During Mr. Farrell’s time in Washington, DC, he developed the guidelines for the Low-Income Designation adopted by the National Credit Union Administration, worked with the United States Treasury Department to refine the Community Development Financial Institutions Act of 1994, and organized the first two Community Development Financial Institutions. His testimony before the House Subcommittee on Banking led to a fair adjustments to CAMEL rating for smaller financial institutions.

In 1999, Mr Farrell became involved with the Pinellas County Executive Committee and worked closely with Chairman Paul Bedinghaus to build a strong coalition of African American Republicans and Democrats to support the second gubernatorial campaign of Jeb Bush. Mr. Farrell worked tirelessly to convert African American democrats to republicans such as Florida House member Rudy Bradley(R) and then St. Petersburg NAACP Chairman Darryl Rouson. Mr. Farrell also operated the South Pinellas County Jeb Bush campaign office in Tierra Verde, Florida and hosted many well attended fundraisers for Republicans Rudy Bradley, Jeb Bush, John Marroni, and many others. In addition, he secured the endorsements of many democrats for Jeb Bush including Jim Hargrett from Tampa. For his hard work, Mr. Farrell was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to the Florida Commission on Human Relations.

Major accomplishments with Governor Jeb Bush include arranging the appointment of Janice Starling (R), the first African American woman to serve on the Pinellas County School Board to replace the late Thomas Todd(R), working on the reestablishment of the Florida A&M University Law School in Orlando, Florida, and assisting in the development of the Front Porch Initiative which provided additional resources to under served communities to attract and retain business investment.

During most recent election cycle in 2014, Mr. Farrell worked hard to energize African Americans across Florida to support Governor Rick Scott and converted leading African American Pastor and former NAACP President Manual Sykes from Democrat to Republican on October 3, 2014, thus creating needed buzz and positive momentum for the campaign statewide.

In concert with the Scott Campaign, George facilitated for Governor Scott to attend church services at Bethel Community Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida on October 5, 2014 and Piney Grove Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on November 2, 2014.

A very effective voter education program was developed to engage parents of “Step up for Students” scholarship recipients on the importance of supporting Governor Scott.

The Florida Commission on Human Relations, The Pinellas County Parks Board, The Tierra Verde Community Association, The Pinellas Worknet Board, the Tierra Verde-Isla Del Sol Chamber of Commerce, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee.

Mr. Farrell received numerous awards including the Tampa Bay Heritage Award, the Superstar Award from the National Minority Women’s Economic Development Loan Fund and the National Outback Superstar Award from the Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast. Mr. Farrell’s many accomplishments are recognized in numerous television interviews, webcast, and print publications such as Bloomberg, Examiner, New York Times, Tampa Bay Magazine, Tampa Tribune, The St. Petersburg Times, The Weekly Challenger, St. Louis Dispatch, Credit Union Times, The Florida Real Estate Journal, The Washington Times and Freedom Magazine. He also contributes travel articles periodically to Examiner.com

Mr. Farrell authored the STRONG BLACK MAN series of books, articles and webcast referenced by entertainers, athletes, politicians, lawyers, husbands, wives and youths as a practical guide to show step by step how to turn frustration, disappointment and downright ANGER into drive, determination, ambition, success and money. His books and writings are distributed in print and electronically by Amazon Kindle and Apple iPAD. Mr. Farrell points out the warning sign to avoid the three killers of the spirit (alcohol, drugs and sex) and how to refrain from the path of self destructive behavior that has tackled president’s, athletes and pastors. Mr. Farrell is a noteworthy speaker that moves audiences to positive actions.
