Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in merry old England, in a small town (or large village) known as Sawtry, relatively close to Cambridge. As for how this influenced my writing? Well, I would say the biggest way living there influenced my writing is that I started writing after a teacher in Sawtry Junior School congratulated me on a short story I had wrote for homework once.
On top of that, living in the British countryside I was surrounded with old Victorian and Georgian buildings and access to a lot of history. Since I write Steampunk stories, I think those surroundings probably help me a great deal.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing has to be the chance to put down on paper all the different worlds, people and events that go on in your mind. Everyone creates and imagines things, and writing allows you to express them, and express yourself.
