Joshua Hamer

I was born and raised in Stone Mountain, GA, a suburb of Atlanta, but I spent most of my time as a teenager in Decatur, GA. I always observed and participated in the thriving culture and arts of the area, while constantly submitting short stories and poems to my high school newspaper and the local newspapers. After high school, I journeyed up north to attend Penn State University, where I would graduate with a degree in Anthropology. After a year or so of working odd jobs, I finally sat down and focused on writing my debut novel Odd Man Out.

Smashwords Interview

Who are your favorite authors?
Off of the top of my head, I would have to say Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games), Sherman Alexie (Ten Little Indians), and Nancy Farmer (The House of the Scorpion). Reading their work has really influenced me personally and with the way I like to write.
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
Beautiful sunrises inspire me. Having new ideas to write down inspires me. Seeing my girlfriend waking up next to me inspires me. I think that pretty much covers it!
