Hattie James was born at the end of WW II in rural North Carolina and she grew up in New York City. However, she chose to move to New Jersey to raise her children.
When her children were all grown up she decided to return to the tranquility of North Carolina. Although she missed the convenience of the city, she was excited to be where the sight and smells of honeysuckle, azalias, crepe myrtle and magnolia flowers are not just a novelty but a part of the landscape.
She wrote poems and stories for her children as they grew up, and tried to instill in them a love for reading and writing.
Hattie has written award winning poems and an illustrated color book of poetry for children available in print through most of the online book stores. Sunrise To Legacy is also a book of poetry.
