This book is a exciting start to a new fantasy series by Parrisha Martelly. I really enjoyed the fact that Martelly took the time to establish Fox's place in the world and her difficult relationships with other people. The reader is provided with a real sense of the world where Fox lives. The story begins by establishing the lead as both the prophesied savior of her people and the most feared. A strong female protagonist (which is very hard to find in fantasy stories), the story's namesake, Fox leads a trio of heroes as they seek to rescue Fox's father, Levictious. Levictious is the only one who knows precisely where the dangerous Pandora's box is locked away. Within the trio are Fox's best friend Onyx who is practically a brother to her and her Kahyah (soulmate) Falcon. Falcon conceals who he really is throughout most of the journey. However, the magical bond is too strong to withstand forever. The hardships of the journey lead the broody Falcon closer to telling Fox the truth. After all of the training and the building up of the Fae armies I did expect that the final battle would be longer. Also, I was hoping that the showdown between Fox and the big bad would be more of a give and take. Still, the author does do a wonderful job of tying up all of the loose ends. So, you are left with a completed story and not a cliffhanger despite the fact that there are clear paths to a sequel. I hope that in the sequent novels, despite the obvious path to joining Fox and Falcon, that Martelly keeps her female lead strong and independent. All-in-all this story was an enjoyable way to escape into another world for a few hours and I would certainly recommend it to a friend.
