I admit I bought this story because Wenona Hulsey is a fellow book club member. But that worked to my advantage. This really is a great read! I really enjoy the interaction between Nicole and Kat,especially their discussion of 'granny underpants',LOL. So,you know there is humor. There is also great fore-shadowing,for e.g.,when a chill runs up Nicole's spine and an inner voice tells her to flee. And that eerie dream... But who and what is that 'thing' she has to flee? And WHAT has he already done to her?! Can leaving Florida and returning to Alabama take her far enough away? But there is more... A really cute love-interest,who happens to be a great kisser!! And who wants to get to know her better. Hmmm, sounds like a hot romance will be developing here. So,do I recommend this story? Darn right,I do. As soon as I came to the end,I needed to check to see if this was a prequel to a book. Happily,it is. Nicole's and Kat's story continues in the book,'Burden of Blood',coming out in August 2011. I guess I can survive the cliffhanger until then?!

I was leery of starting this book because of its Young Adult tag. Am I glad I decided to read it anyway! The book pulls you into its thrall from the 1st page. Portia and Vance make a great couple. They seem to have everything going for them, but for one little problem. Someone in Vance's previous life is out to get him. He's been on the run for years, but his past has caught up w/him! Only this time,he stands to lose the one person he loves more than his own life. What an amazing book, great story, and satisfying denouement.I rate it 5 stars!!

Oh my stars! Every time I think Lacey Weatherford cannot possibly top her previous cliffhangers, she proves me wrong by doing it again! At the end of the last book,we found out that thankfully Vance is not dead after all,but he comes back from the grave with no memory of his past life.He doesn't know his wife, his own name,or even that he is a warlock. Will he be able to control his blood lust and keep himself from killing Portia? Or will she become a victim? And will the old Vance ever surface or is he destined to be a Demon forever? Every time you think he and Portia can compromise, another crisis emerges. And wait until you get to the last page. What an exquisite form of torture, leaving us readers squirming until the next installment is released next February! I swear this author is a sick, twisted individual. I LOVE HER!!

An absolutely awesome ending to a fantastic series. I do not usually read Y/A, but I am happy I did for a change. Lacey Weatherford has now joined my short list of authors who are an automatic buy whenever a new work is published. I highly recommend her!
