"The backdrop of my poetry comes from the 1970's. After the 1965 Watts Riot seven years later there was a concert that was held in Los Angeles, CA called Wattstax. Over 100,000 were in attendance to witness this display of Black Pride at its best. I had the wonderful opportunity of growing up in the seventies when men referred to women as Queens and women referred to men as Kings. That is the sole basis of my poetry to remember how it was and how it should be".
Author/Poet Tajiye L. Antwine was born in Hollywood CA and was raised in Compton and Long Beach CA. Currently resides in Sacramento CA. Son to Mike and Etta Antwine and youngest of five. I give my parents all the credit for my success. They are very knowledgeable people and in turn I’ve learn so much from them. History books don’t tell all the truth when it comes to black history. So I take it upon myself to get the word out about what really goes on in the hood. My poetry is like a conversation among men in a barber shop. My short stories are like gossip among ladies in a beauty salon. I hope you all enjoy and partake of this soulful food that I have to offer. It will be controversial, It will be beautiful, it will be insightful and most of all it will be cultural…..
