S. Marie Carlson is the author of the Sovereign Spell Chronicles series and the illustrator of the Talk About Max... series by Toni Olson. S. Marie Carlson lives in Dunn County, WI and has spent her years falling in love with characters from her favorite books and movies. She grew up creating things through art and has now ventured into the wild world of authoring. She loves anything involving fantasy, and has been known to have a thing for witches, werewolves, and vampires. When she's not busy writing she can be found spending time with her husband and son and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in the country in Wisconsin. So far this has led me to write about people who are from a big city--not that I'd ever like to move to a big city, but I guess to imagine the differences between the lifestyle.
When did you first start writing?
I started writing when I was just a wee. I wrote so many stories titled 'The Family'. One day it will be made into a children's series about a large family.
The Sovereign Spell Chronicles follows the life of Junifred (Junie) Cauldwell as she learns she is a witch and to master her new abilities, find comfort in more than just her vivacious aunt's bed and breakfast, Armistice Manor, or her best friend Miles, (who suddenly has become friendlier than ever). When her aunt disappears Junie must travel the magical realm of Lothea to find her, but she doesn't know what is waiting for here there ... or who.
