Born in the Netherlands, Jack emigrated to Alberta, Canada at age 12. After College he married and became a linguist, educator and Bible translator with the Canela people in Brazil, living there for nearly 25 years. Jack served as the executive director of Wycliffe Canada and Wycliffe Caribbean for 9 years. He is currently a speaker and writer for Wycliffe. He and his wife celebrated their 50th anniversary this year with their 3 daughters' families of eight grandchildren.
The 28 story-based articles, grouped in 3 sections tell why the Bible needs to be translated, how it is translated, and what God is doing to accelerate Bible translation around the world. The author and his wife learned an unwritten Brazilian indigenous language by living among the people for 2 decades. They developed an alphabet and translated a large part of the Bible into the people's language.
