Born and raised in New York City, Jade Vergus was exposed to almost every cultural aspect that life in the big city could offer. As a self-proclaimed introvert, she entertained herself by creating colorful stories in her mind. She spent a lot of time reading anything and everything she could get her hands on, especially in the genres of romance, science fiction, and suspense. When she wasn’t reading, her vivid imagination was busy with the creation of yet another great story. The characters were as real to her as her friends or family.
In her freshman year of college, Jade worked at a summer camp with special needs children. Included in her group was a deaf child who had isolated himself from everyone but her. She spent the summer working with that child, and he unknowingly inspired Jade’s interest in sign language. She took a course her next year in college. It was during this time that the characters of Silent Flower were born.
After college, she went into teaching before continuing her education abroad. Having lived in St. Maarten, England, Atlanta, New York, and Chicago, she finally settled for a more quiet life in a small, rural town in northeastern Georgia. She spends her days teaching middle school and high school students. She fills her free time reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing with her dogs. When time allows, she enjoys traveling and seeing the world.
