What a great short story for autumn. It makes the reader feel the season and want to experience it in its fullness.
Keep up the good work, Elizabeth!

Elizabeth Keith has provided us with a welcomed and much needed alternative to the crass commercialism of the season. She draws beautiful and peaceful word pictures that take us to a much better place and make us want to stay there. Thank you, Elizabeth for your gift of the season!

Fools Rush Inn

I am still trying to figure out the unexpected ending, but perhaps that is the point. Being a literalist, I found myself trying to compute how long she was at Fools Rush Inn Only secondarily did I consider whether the story was symbolic in the spirit of the Christmas season? Nevertheless, I enjoyed the great descriptive writing, the development of characters, and the appreciative presentation of human interaction. A great read for a Christmas that we can enjoy in the simplicity and peace of the season.
