I began reading this series as a fluke, and now I am hooked. If you intend to read this the fourth book, by books 0 through 3 and read them first to truly be amazed at the depth of development of the characters and cultures of the space-faring race and the unique views of the decade of 1960 as seen by them. Jay--please hurry to get books 5 through 25 into electronic format. I know of at least one avid reader who will devour them. Thank you for the lovely escape and pleasant memories of days gone by.

A MUST READ--If you enjoy such Science Fiction as Battlestar Gallactica, Stargate or any well-defined, well-developed and depth of detail in storytelling. This book lays the foundation for so much of the following volumes in this series. Little acorns planted here grow to majestic oaks as you travel down the road in this series. I have had to keep the electronic versions of all volumes so I can go back to see "where have I heard that before". Thanks Jay for an outstanding series thus far....please hurry to get all the volumes in electrons. I have avoided gettting these in print for fear the goats may eat them....

This series just gets better and better. Scramble the fighters and protect the goats....thanks for an outstanding read Jay. Jay--post a way to contact the author please. I volunteer for any "reading/editing" you may need. This series has me more captivated than my days of Pern. I have added you to the list of my favorite authors which include Andre Norton, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Anne McCaffrey, Isaac Asimov and about ten more of equal virtue. You amaze me with the depth of your detail in the cultural view, character development and the ability to keep several storylines flowing without driving the reader nuts. Thanks again.

Take frequent restroom breaks while reading this tale, else your pants may need changing due to uncontrolled laughter at times. Think of a space-faring race settling for a while in rural Oklahoma--in the early 60s no less. This volume brought tears of laughter to my face as I read it. The depth of the book can make you smell the loam of the fields. The mistakes made by the team as they try to learn "American" english and some of the word likenesses to "bad words" in thier own language make the reader laugh so hard it hurts.
