I was born and raised in Texas, and I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in literature in 1995. I live and teach Spanish in Colorado. I love my job as a teacher, because it enables me to develop relationships many people of different cultures and to learn their stories, and it thereby enriches my understnading of how people think, how they interact with others, and how they react to the physical world which we all inhabit.

Young Paul moves to his grandparents’ house after his sister drowned. A medium to the spirit world, his great-grandmother Big Mama teaches Paul to communicate with the living and the dead, opening a door that forces Paul to realize he will never return to his life as it was before.
