Why do you write?
A woman once said to me that all writers are defective malcontents who are dissatisfied with aspects of life. Perhaps, she is right. Or not. I write because I believe I have something to say.
What makes you write?
Good question. Why are we innately drawn to some interests and not to others? Some people are good at talking. Me, not so much. The gift of the gab is a skill I have always admired and yearned to have, but I am naturally contemplative. That's just the way I am. Writing helps me to appreciate the contrariness of people and life.
Just when you think you are reading about the life of someone else you realize it is, in actual fact, all about you. For it is in the art of appreciating your life story and what it has to teach you that you get to choose the option of functioning from a position of strength.
