After reading this fasinating biography,I felt that I personally knew Robert Salomon. I was taken on a journey with an idealistic person trying to live in a period that spaned the Spanish Civil War, World War I, the Hitler crazed World War II years, and the Cuban Revolution.
This book should be required reading for any student of history, particularly those interested in this violent period of time. Salomon's experiences give the reader insights that I doubt would be found elsewhere. Through it all, his subtle humor is an offset to the most horrible and dreary aspects of those unsettled times.
I have recommended this outstanding biography to many of my friends.
