A lost baby, saved and adored -- though jealous rivalry can never be ignored. Mixtures of pictures plus photos restored, warm chicken verse, prose is even worse. Feathered love, orange toes, Triott Chicken knows.

Alvin in particular grabbed me from the moment he appeared -- simple dialog that expresses so much. Graham writes with love for her story, and for her characters, and the reader feels that love throughout.

Start with a quote: "... it takes more than twenty-three chromosomes to have a say in your kid's life." There are quite a few quotables in this novel. The author's voice (I won't tell more and spoil it) can be personal and sincere. That voice is strongest at the end, when the 'Secret' is exposed -- nice. Too many passages were rough going at times, lots of characters at lots of parties, which is what celebrities do, so I'm told. My emotional connection to the main character was minimal, and I think the book could use some editing. I'm certainly glad I didn't give up. When he pours his literary heart out, Mr. Karaczewski can write.
