Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
I had a dream. Unusual in the sense that I remembered it long after awakening. There was the plot, already formed. All I had to do was write it down with elaboration on characters and situations. Data from research on locations and technologies came easily and fit as if preordained.

So here's a story of one extraordinary man using the emotions and tools that were destroying the planet to save it, at least in his vision of salvation. The success of his plan required that he not be seen as its architect. So in this story others predominate the plot.
What are you working on next?
I'm playing with a sequel to DUST describing life on planet earth 88 years after the nanos. At that time common everyday things would be called magic without knowledge of what the nanos can do. Of course, there are problems that still don't have a satisfying immediate solution.

Every age creates a god for its needs. In the past, those versions of god were abstract and required believers in order to have an effect on society. In the 21st century, man created a god that inhabited the world, was alive, all knowing, powerful, able to supply all human needs, and could deliver death or life as it saw fit. This is a story of that beginning.
