Jeremy Holland

Biography

Jeremy Holland was born near Los Angeles, California, but spent his formative years in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia and England before returning to the US as a teenager.

After attending high-school, he like many others at his age, searched for what he wanted to do, including a stint with a brokerage firm in Silicon Valley and as a paid intern for Republican fundraising group near Washington DC. He then tended at a bar while going to community college before enrolling at liberal arts Occidental College in Eagle Rock California, to study Diplomacy & World Affairs.

Attracted more to the seedy side of nearby Hollywood than the causes of ethnic conflicts, Jeremy dropped out of university and began a succession of jobs in technology. Working in a cubicle only intensified his desire to follow his gypsy nature and seek out new adventures in exotic lands. A trip to Barcelona cemented his decision to leave his family and friends. He had found his calling. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of Hemingway, Orwell and others, move to Spain and become a writer.

In 2002, Jeremy returned to Barcelona with a blanket, a laptop and just enough knowledge of the local language to order a beer. Eight years later, he dreamed in Spanish with a sprinkling of Catalan and published From Barcelona Vol. 1. This edition expands on those short stories and offers a few more tales that peek at a life not found in the guidebooks.

Jeremy now lives in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, with his wife, their young daughter and cat who flees from the sunlight.
