Jessica Ward

Biography

Where to start? Well being an author was something I never dreamed of. I love to read, but I don't do it very often. I used to when I was younger, growing up I wanted to be just like Matilda - powers and all.

As I grew up my interests changed. I was much more interested in going out with friends, dating and working. Clothes and especially shoes became way more important, as you can tell from my front cover!

So I'm not a complete bookworm, and I don't do this full time. I had an idea for a story one day, and I decided to try my hand at writing. I'm hoping I've done a good job and you will all like what you read! It's not as easy as it looks, I understand first hand the pain of writers block, and spending that much time in front of a computer that your eyes go funny.

When I spoke to my friends and family and told them I was writing a book, after a few raised eyebrows they were nothing but supportive. They pushed me to carry on and were so excited to read my first book.

Well, the first book is out there, and I'm eager to make a start on the next! I will update this page as I go along, and share with all of you my journey.

And hey, if you have any ideas for my book series, send me an email! I'm new to this game and I welcome any input both positive and negative (but please, try not to be too harsh)

To all the 'Grammar Nazis' out there, it may not be perfect but I have proofed, reproofed and proofed again. I am constantly editing and republishing as and when I spot something out of place, however I wouldn't be surprised if I've missed the odd line, as like I said I don't do this full time! This being said I do appreciate any constructive views it is a learning curb for me right now.

Anyway I hope you enjoy the E Virus book series and have as much fun reading it as I have writing it!

Smashwords Interview

How do you approach cover design?
My cover designs are based on real products. The zombie skinned shoes on the first cover are hand made by a great designer based in Southampton Nixxi Rose. I contacted her shortly after discovering her designs and she kindly gave me the permission to use her photos as the cover.

My second book features a designer a little closer to home. Emma Evans the owner of online shop Amelia Sparkles created the shoe for 'Path of Destruction' we are working together very closely and she is in the process of designing my very own zombie hermes bag!
What's the story behind your latest book?
The story behind my book is inspired by the Ebola virus. I came across a BBC news story a few months ago and to me, the symptoms were that frightening I knew it would make a good story. From this the E Virus was born
