Publisher info

I am a former Marine, a husband to Mary, the father of four children, grandfather of eleven, great grandfather of ten, a writer of poetry, a retired college teacher (Georgia Southern University. University of Georgia, Gainesville State College, New Mexico State University, and the University of Texas at El Paso) of literature, language, composition and rhetoric as well as English as a second language. I am an aspiring novelist (a story based on my grandfather’s experiences during the incursion into Mexico following Pancho Villa’s raid in 1916). I am also a builder, and a gardener. I enjoy writing poems for children (The Frog and the Snake, Hoggerel, The Adventures of Almost Hardly the Frog) and adults (A Limerode, You’ve got to Love Country Music, I also build and manage websites (www.instructionalsystems.org & www.aikenmcl939.org). For most of my writing I use my middle and last name, Jim Kline, because Aubrey has been hijacked by the fair sex (my granddaughter included), and I sometimes forget how it is spelled.

Since 1980 I havei owned and operated, a small publishing company, Instructional Systems (http://www.instructionalsystems.org) which primarily publishes multimedia instructional material for ESL and Developmental English students and teachers. My website offers free tutorials and also sells selected titles for study and reading.

I have recently (December 2013) published, in e-book form, The Adventures of Almost Hardly the Frog. This book is written in a unique narrative poetic form and chronicles the near misses and close calls of the hero, Almost Hardly. The three episodes are vividly captured by our illustrator, Penny Bradley. The intended audience consists of fourth through sixth graders, parents, and teachers, not to mention curious adults. The book is available from a number of ebook retailers. Previews are available on my website and reviews are welcomed.
