Smashwords book reviews by J.L.

  • Whisper on April 03, 2011

Randolf had me glued and turning the pages as fast I could read! Literally could not put it down. Very fast paced and filled with action. Will definitely read more of this author.
  • Paradise Lost: Tales of the Dead Tropics on Aug. 08, 2011

A very quick read. High intensity told in first person of a nurse and her brush with zombies. Infected by a age old virus the town becomes zombies.
  • No Rules Of Engagement on Sep. 07, 2011

This is a fabulous novel! From the first line to the last. Young Alexander Hawk is conscripted into the army for a rescue mission on another planet. Step by step and with his own ingenuity, he becomes the fighting machine the military needs to save the Macktonic planets from annihilation and defeat the Raptors. I highly recommend this novel, but be warned hang onto the seat of your pants for a roller coaster ride. Brilliant imagination for the author, Thomas Wilson. Can't wait for the sequel.
  • Target Practice (Zombie Flash Fiction) on Sep. 27, 2011

If this is the prequel, I want to read the whole book. Good job, pulled me right in until the end.
  • The Insurgent's Journal on April 18, 2013

My Impressions A tightly woven story with well defined characters. Martinez breathes life into the characters where the reader is carried step by step through the maze of the world he's created. In this he's created a nonstop roller coaster ride of intrigue, plots within plots, and almost insurmountable hurdles in his main character's quest to find her parents. The journals are being translated with the use of magical glasses worn by an exiled writer which when he intrudes is a bit jarring. Told in first person, like most journals are written, is not my preferred reading, but I found this book action packed with very little lulls to catch a breath. It is a blow by blow accounting, literally. Is it believable and can I suspense my disbelief for the 164- page journey, yep it did. Would I recommend this book to others? I have already. Grab your copy HERE. A bargain at any price, but $0.99 it's a steal.
