What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
Being able to literally do whatever I want. There are no boundaries in the imagination, or at least there shouldn't be. It should be a safe place to explore every side of yourself, the good and the bad. The pretty and the ugly. Writing is the same. It's a creative playground with endless possibilities. Anything can happen. Anything is possible. The world is yours.
Who are your favorite authors?
I love Douglas Adams. "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series is hands down my favorite book series ever. It is completely ridiculous in the most vividly amazing way possible. It showed me that there is no such thing as a proper writing style. You can tell a story any damn way you see fit. Plus it taught me to never miss the opportunity to add a good bit of humor. I also really enjoy H.G. Wells. Particularly "The Island of Dr. Moreau". What a delightfully unsettling story. Another major influence on me was J.K. Rowling. I grew up reading Harry Potter. Her attention to detail is astounding and the vivid world she created completely captivated me as a young reader. That series is probably the reason I became a book lover.
Tales from the Apocalypse is back with a new volume of blood curdling short stories that plunge you straight into the zombie infested apocalypse! Beginning with THE SPREAD, a fast paced ride on the back of the infection that takes you from first bite to full carnage. Followed by four short stories; UNDERTOW, MARY, HOLLOW: AN EASTER TALE, and WHAT I'VE EARNED.
The world has gone to hell. The dead are not dying, and humans have just taken a quick drop down the food chain. Everyday life has turned into a fight for survival as resources diminish. This is the harsh and unforgiving world in which Ury has found herself.
