Joan Zambelli

Joan Zambelli made up bedtime tales for her daughters when they were young, but she didn’t begin writing any stories until 1996, after her return to England from Italy.
She did a ‘Writing for Children’ Postal Course, and joined a local Writing Group, where she was given much needed encouragement. Since then, over 300 of her children’s stories and poems have been published in magazines in the U.K. including Twinkle, The People’s Friend (also in their Annuals) My Weekly, Stories for Children and Brownie, Many of her stories have been published in Ireland, in Ireland’s Own. Some of these stories are now available on
Sometimes Joan thinks in rhyme when walking along the seafront in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, where she lives. But, strangely enough, some of her story ideas have come from TV Commercials!
Joan hopes that children enjoy reading her stories as much as she enjoys writing them.
